US Ambassador Gary Locke said on Wednesday that he will step down from his position early next year to rejoin his family.美國駐華大使駱家輝周三表示，他將于明年年初卸任，回美國與家人團聚。Step down from his position表示離開他的工作職位，即辭職，卸任，也可用leave office表示。英語中有關離職的表達容易見到的就是resign，指非常正式地宣布舍棄我們的工作或職位，如：He resigned from his job as principal of the school（他辭去了校長的職務）。另一個容易見到的搭配resign oneself則表示不能不同意一個并不讓人愉快的事實，如：We resigned ourselves to the fact that we were going to lose the game（大家不能不承認這場比賽大家贏不了）。口語中說到離職時一般會用quit，譬如：He quit his job（他離職了）。駱家輝在聲明中表示，擔任駐華大使是其一生的榮耀（the honor of a lifetime），并稱在任期間，美國駐華大使館主要致力于通過提升美國對華出口來增加美國國內的就業(yè)機會（job creation in America by increasing exports to China），為美國企業(yè)打開更多的市場，增加中國在美投資（promoting Chinese investment in the US）。通過將簽證獲得的等待時間（wait times for a visa）從歷史最高的70至100天降至3到5天，大幅度提升了中國人到美國商務和觀光旅游（business and tourism travel）的數目。
