The trip also reminds the public of his father's first appearance in Oceania more than 30 years ago}

很多媒體將喬治小王子的這次訪問定名為diaper diplomacy 尿布外交，足見小王子的人氣甚至超越了爸爸媽媽。小王子抵達新西蘭當每天氣條件惡劣，因此小王子錯過了famed Maori welcoming ceremony（著名的毛利人歡迎儀式）。不過小王子的爸爸媽媽和毛利人長者舉行了nose-touching ceremony（碰鼻禮）。

小王子的媽媽凱特王妃當天身穿buttoned-up red coat（紅色雙排扣外套），頭戴同色系pillbox hat（平頂小圓帽），別著silver fern brooch（銀蕨形胸針），抱著小王子走下飛機。這枚胸針是伊麗莎白二世60年前訪問新西蘭時收到的禮物，silver fern（銀蕨）是新西蘭特有些植物，是新西蘭的標志。
