A man armed with an assault rifle killed 50 people at a packed gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday in the worst mass shooting in US history, which President Barack Obama described as an act of terror and hate.

Mass shooting指導(dǎo)致多人受害的槍支暴力事件（an incident involving multiple victims of gun violence），通常來講，致使4人以上死亡的槍擊事件（不包含槍手本人）都可以稱為public mass shooting。美國近幾年發(fā)生的槍擊事件中，有一部分是school shooting（校園槍擊）。此次奧蘭多槍擊事件由于導(dǎo)致的死亡人數(shù)已達50人，因此被媒體稱為massacre（大規(guī)模殺人事件）。
